Writing Guidelines

Thanks for your interest in writing for the Elephant’s Onion! Before you begin, please follow the following guidelines to help us streamline and expedite the publishing process.

  1. Include a proposed title and tagline for your article
    • We want to ensure your writing follows a common theme, which is accomplished through these two features. Note that an editor may modify the title and excerpt to better fit the feel of the publication. The title is self-explanatory, and the tagline gives a brief idea of what the article is about. Look at our published articles to gather ideas.
  2. Don’t write too much
    • Articles are meant to be digested in less than ten minutes. Know that your audience is likely to have a short attention span. Don’t aim for repetitiveness or wordiness; this isn’t your English final.
  3. Send an email to [email protected]
    • Some of our staff may be busy during the week, so you’ll have the best chance of hearing back from someone if you use the above email address. We can help with brainstorming ideas and publishing finalized articles.
