PRESIDENT’S OFFICE – At a press conference last Wednesday, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology president Robert “Bobby” Coons recognized Dr. Tba with the Mildred Crapo Award for Outstanding Faculty Service award (MCAFOFS). Dr. Tba, who has served as a professor at Rose for over 13 years, taught an astounding 25 classes over the 2020-2021 academic year, totaling at an astounding 69 in class teaching hours per week. Most of the classes taught took place in the mechanical engineering and physics departments. He led students through the intricacies of Statics, Materials, Bioengineering, Physics labs, Time Management, and Intro to Cloning. Outside of class Dr. Tba is an avid cyclist, Dutch oven baker, and consultant for science fiction film and tv. In response to being given the prestigious award Dr. Tba responded: “The school had classes that needed teachers, I was just doing my part.” This award was given in response to a petition by students, wishing to recognize the professor. One of the students who put forward the petition, Tomothy Welch, commented: “Dr. Tba was the best professor I have ever had the pleasure of working with, I really felt like he got to know me personally. He was a tough grader, but it was clear he put time and effort into each assignment and the grade I received was always fair. He truly is a gem of the school and it’s about time he got the recognition he deserves.”
